Nathan was quite content where he was and decided that being a February baby was not in the cards, so we scheduled the induction for March 7th. I was scheduled to be at the hospital at 10:00am. Over the weekend I started to have a few contractions, nothing that really hurt, I actually had to sit on the hardwood floor to feel them, but my mother and aunts had the same problem (not that I would call it a problem). On Tuesday I called into the hospital at 9:00am as requested and was told to come on in. I had set myself up to think that I would be told that I needed to come in later so I was very happy when they said to come in. We got to the hospital and it was taking forever for Matt to be able to park the car so I headed up to get checked in. Once I was checked in I met Kathy who would be our nurse. Matt made his way up and I got changed and hooked up to the monitors. Shortly after arriving one of the resident OB’s came in to check to see if I had made any progress and to do an ultrasound to check the fluid levels. I was 4cm at this point (and totally shocked since I had only been a half a centimeter the week before). We did the ultrasound and they said the fluid was a bit low, but still an ok level. My OB came back in shortly after this and was very happy to see the progress. At this point I was having contractions every six minutes (and still not really feeling anything). They decided to start Pitocin to get things moving along. In the room there was a screen that showed the monitor strips for 8 to 10 patients on the floor (so the nurses could see what the other patients were doing when they were in our room). My mom and Matt were quite entertaining as they ranked all of us… evidently I was in 3rd for quite a while… not sure how the scoring went though. At around 12:00pm they started the Pitocin and I began to feel a bit of the contractions. They upped the dosage at 12:45pm. At 1:30pm my doctor came in to check on me and break my water. I was at 5cm at this point. At this time Kathy, the nurse, told me that the contractions would start getting stronger and asked if I wanted an epidural. She said it would take about 30 minutes to get this going once the anesthesiologist got there and to keep in mind that I would need to be sitting still through this. At around 2pm the contractions were getting quite strong and I decided to get the epidural. The anesthesiologist came in at 2:30pm and got the epidural in… only problem… it didn’t work. At around 3:00pm they tried again (same anesthesiologist started and a different one finished). Well this time it only worked on my right side (and I begin to think that I had an anesthesiologist in training). They then had me lay on my left side to see if gravity would do the trick and it would start to work… which it didn’t. The contractions were getting more and more painful and they kept trying to make this epidural work. They couldn’t turn up the Pitocin b/c I was in too much pain. At around 6:00pm Kathy came in with the anesthesiologist to discuss the options. We decided to try for a 3rd time, but another anesthesiologist was going to do it. At around 6:30pm the chief of anesthesia came in and put in the epidural and it finally worked! (My mom now says I should ask for credentials before letting doctors in the room… and I don’t think it’s such a bad idea). At 7:15pm my doctor came in to check on things and I was fully dialated and effaced. It was right about this time that we got a new nurse, Joan. Joan worked on getting the room setup for delivery. It took quite a while since there was no one available to help. Evidently March 7th was a popular birthday at Hartford Hospital this year. At around 9:00pm we started pushing. My contractions were long, but a bit far apart, which was actually kind of nice. After a few practice pushes we were really ready to start and my doctor came in. Two contractions later and Nathan was here at 9:58pm. He was 9lbs, 2oz and 22inches long. He was absolutely perfect! We were in love!!! The nurse got Nathan cleaned up and I the doctor stitched up a tear that I had. After that we got to spend a bit of time with Nathan and then the nurse got me cleaned up and let the family come visit for a little bit. After the family left we got ready to move down to post partum. We got all settled in there and then Matt and Nathan went off to the nursery to get him all checked out and cleaned up.

I have been so bad at keeping up!!! Well it's officially 9 days till my due date (16 more days max since they said they won't let me go a week past)!!! I'm so excited... and also so ready to be done!!! I cannot wait to sleep on my back and be able to get up and down without feeling like an old lady!!!

I got my haircut yesterday, painted my toenails this morning (not an easy task at all at this point), all the bags are packed and we're ready to go. Now if I could just coax this little guy out of here we'd be all set!!! Luckily the phone calls have slowed down a bit... could be that I'm a bit cranky, could be that I'm screening my calls, who knows...

My mom is packed and ready to flight out at a moments notice. Granted my sister is having a few issues with this (she needs mom to babysit this weekend), but the way I figure, that's not my problem!!! I think my mom will come up the end of next week if she isn't already here. I am so looking forward to that and would almost like her here a couples of days before so we can hang out.

One of my co-workers wives went into labor yesterday. I can wait to hear her story.

Not too much else to report, just sitting here... imaptiently waiting! :)

I'm Jordan. My husband is Matt, he's 29. We live in Connecticut. We were married on July 24th, 2004. Today I am 36w4d pregnant. Only 24 more days to go!! Unfortunatly this baby seems to like staying put, so I could be here a while. We are having a boy. If you want more background info visit: http://www.constantchatter.com/showthread.php?t=2010.
